Euclid Emerald Ortho-K lenses are a brand of rigid, oxygen-permeable lenses. This custom-designed lens is to be worn overnight to gently reshape your patients’ corneas as they sleep. This reshaping is designed to provide clear daytime vision, free of glasses and contact lenses.
• There are several studies demonstrating the effectiveness and safety of orthokeratology.1-7
• Our Emerald family of products are manufactured only in materials that have U.S. FDA overnight/extended wear approvals and years of successful use by eyecare professionals around the world.
This advanced treatment is safe, effective, FDA-approved, and proven on over 2 million eyes around the world.
Euclid Emerald lenses are designed to fit the exact shape of your patient’s eye. With Euclid Emerald, there are no trial sets and no guesswork; simply provide your patient’s keratometry readings, refraction, and HVID (Horizontal Visible Iris Diameter), and our advanced algorithms will calculate the exact lens needed to perfectly fit your patient and correct their vision. With a documented study that shows a 95.5% fit success and 80%+ initial lens success rate1, your first Euclid Emerald lens is very likely to be the best lens.
There are unique advantages of our proprietary MyoK lens design:
• Dual alignment curves gently align the peripheral cornea, offering better centration for a closer, comfortable fit
• Empirical and intuitive design offers control over the size of the treatment zone
• Optimal peripheral defocus with the treatment zone mostly inside the pupil
Euclid Emerald lenses are approved for correction of up to -5.00D myopia, and up to -1.50D WTR or -0.75D ATR cylinder. FDA Approved (PMA #P040029).
Euclid Emerald lenses can be worn by anyone regardless of age, and all patients can experience the benefit of clear sight during the day. However, studies have shown that myopia generally manifests between the ages of 8-12, so it is recommended that young patients are fit between those ages for the best management of their myopia. Starting a myopia management program at any time during the growth years (8-23 years of age) can still have great benefits.9-22
Unlike some Ortho-K brands, Euclid Emerald lenses require absolutely no trial sets to achieve a successful fit. Provide accurate keratometry readings, sphere and cylinder refraction, and HVID (Horizontal Visible Iris Diameter), and we will make customized lenses fit to the exact shape of your patient’s eyes. A baseline corneal topography is also recommended prior to starting any Ortho-K procedure.
While a topographer is not required to order your first lenses, it does provide a critical piece of information that will be needed for any consultation work if any fit issues arise. Topography is also required to determine when we may need to choose the best design option between the Emerald (sphere) and Emerald Toric lens.
Many eyecare professionals will tell you that Euclid Emerald lenses are the easiest to incorporate into your practice, saving you chair time and giving you great first fit success. Euclid Systems Corporation also provides you access to a consultation team of experienced Ortho-K specialists ready to help you at a moment’s notice. Call or email our consultants at your convenience and we’ll ensure that your Emerald design fitting provides you and your patient with optimum results.
Since there is no trial fitting set required to fit Emerald Ortho-K lenses, there is no upfront cost other than the cost of the lenses themselves. Additionally, our practice-friendly warranties will help you and your patients feel comfortable beginning the treatment process.
Euclid Emerald Ortho-K lenses are all FDA-approved and have been shown to be safe in several research studies.1-2,15,18 Each pair of lenses comes with an authorized package insert that includes safety information for the product.
Corneal astigmatism often will cause a lens to decenter in the closed eye. Euclid Emerald lenses are designed and approved to fit patients with up to -1.50D corneal cylinder without any additional design modification. Euclid Emerald Toric lenses can also be ordered for those patients whose topography shows a limbus to limbus astigmatic “bow tie” pattern and/or measures over 30 microns of sagittal height difference (vertical to horizontal) at the 8mm chord where the lens settles onto the corneal surface. As soon as the certification is verified, you will very quickly receive a welcome box from Euclid. Included in your kit is a framed Euclid Emerald certificate for your office waiting area and Euclid Emerald marketing material samples to help educate your patients about Ortho-K and Euclid’s myopia management program. A representative from Euclid Emerald will also reach out to you to answer questions and set you up with a new Euclid account. Then it’s time to tell your staff about this exciting treatment process and how you expect Euclid Emerald Ortho-K to be presented throughout your office.
Euclid Emerald lenses can be made in two materials, both of which are fully approved by the FDA for overnight Ortho-K. Oprifocon A has a dK of 85 and is available in green and blue. This material has the longest proven history for overnight safety and efficacy. We also offer tisilfocon A with a dK of 163 and is available in blue and clear. Tisilfocon A provides your patient the highest of oxygen permeability available if needed.
Every Euclid Emerald lens has a lasermark identifier on the edge, which is a unique number. That number will only ever be used once, and can be used to identify the exact patient, eye, and order entered into our system. For patients wearing oprifocon A material Emerald lenses, Euclid uses green on the right and blue on the left for easy side differentiation. For those using the Tisilfocon A material, they are available in clear and blue.
